Paul Earl Taylor

Paul Earl Taylor, long-time resident of Albion, PA and more recently of Pittsburgh, died peacefully at home of natural causes on September 3, 2021 at age 95.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marguerite (nee Benigni)Taylor; sisters Geraldine Blint and Jeanne Cinquanto; childrenRebecca Weaver of Girard, PA and Paul Michael Taylor (Brittany) of Fairview, PA; stepsons Gregory Scott (Lena) and Andrew Scott (Christine) of Pittsburgh; grandchildren Julia, Madeleine, Elizabeth, Hudson and Callan; and great-granddaughter Celeste.

He was born on December 17, 1925, in Ridgeway, PA to the late Earl and Gertrude (nee Walsh) Taylor.  A proud US Navyveteran, he enlisted at age 17 during World War II.   From 1943through 1946, he supported the Allied invasion of Europe, with postings in the UK, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany.  Atwar’s end, he joined the Navy Reserve and attended Clarion College (now University) under the GI Bill, receiving his bachelor’s degree in education in 1950.   He returned to active duty from 1950 to 1953, with service in Cuba, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Greenland.

Following his honorable discharge, he embarked on his education career, teaching at public schools in Clearfield County and receiving his master’s degree in secondary education fromPenn State. He moved to Albion in 1956 and began his 34-year association with the Northwestern School District, first as a classroom teacher and later as guidance counselor, following completion of post-graduate studies at Boston University.

He was an avid outdoorsman.  He was a founding member of the Albion Sportmen’s Club and a long-time wildlife conservation and hunter safety educator.  He was active in many Albion community organizations, including Boy Scouts, Lion’s Club and Grace United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held in Albion, with details to follow.
