Paul J. Niederberger, 62, of Cecil Township, formerly of Baldwin Borough, unexpectedly on Wednesday Oct. 31. He was the beloved brother of Ernest, (the late Nadine) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Regis, (Kathleen) of South Fayette, Rita (Oliver) Shoemaker of Gibsonia and Mary (Bill Kelleher) of Bethel Park. He is also survived by loving nieces and nephews, Lori Christ, Scott, Eric, Trent and Nathan Niederberger, Jessica Shoemaker, Lauren (Craig) Bustos and Molly and Shane Kelleher.

Paul was a 1980 graduate of Duquesne University’s School of Pharmacy. He started his career as a pharmacist at the former Stebbrook Pharmacy in Brookline. In 1993 he took a job with Kmart pharmacies, first as an itinerate pharmacist and later as a permanent pharmacist at the Chippewa Kmart in Beaver Falls, where he worked for a number of years until 2016.  He had many friends among the Kmart staff and customers, sometimes meeting customers for coffee before his shift. Paul enjoyed traveling with his family and spending time with his family and especially attending the sporting events and other activities of his nieces and nephews. At one time he was an avid runner and completed two Pittsburgh Marathons in the 1980s.

There will be no visitation or services as Paul chose to donate his remains to science.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Toys for Tots or any charity that provides Holiday gifts and food to needy children.

I knew Paul via Kmart Pharmacy. We met, probably in 1993 or 1994, when he covered for my partner. I liked him immediately. As a pharmacist, he was conscientious and dedicated to his customers. As a man, he was honest and trustworthy. As a friend, he was supportive and caring. And he was hilariously funny! We pulled pranks on one another and joked around, mostly over the phone, to get through our days. He will be missed. Rest in peace, my friend.
