My wife and I knew Rachel for almost 60 years. We met at Hollywood Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles and were members of the young married group, the Mariners. We had many years of fun times together at parties and other social events. Rachel had a unique sense of humor, which fit right in with Jack's wonderfully droll, self-deprecating personality. We also admired their courage and dignity after the death of their first son back in the 1960's. Rachel was a very special person in so many ways. Although we haven't seen the Laffins in many years, we will always carry fond memories of our long friendship.

I am deeply sorry for your loss! She was a sweet lady! I loved reading about her and the picture of her is beautiful! She looks like a movie star. She looks much like Grace Kelly I think. She is at peace now and in the arms of our Heavenly Father! I pray for strength and to all the family! Peace and love, Beth

Dear Jack and Family, I am sending my best thoughts and prayers. We had such wonderful memories of our earliest family years. Ski trips, beach trips, Mariners class at Hollywood Pres. We managed to visit all too seldom, but kept up with all the family news, weddings and grandchildren, through Christmas photos and news. Rachel was was a lovely person, beautiful, funny and one of my favorite early friends. Her children and grandchildren have a wonderful heritage! Loving thoughts to all the family. Val Toms, and also for Bob

Dear Jack and family, My heartfelt condolences on the passing of Rachel, wonderful wife and mother and spirited, funny conversationalist. I remember two great dinners with Jack and Rachel when they inhabited their West Coast digs seasonally. And there was one enjoyable lunch that also included their daughter Suzanne when they visited me in Long Beach. Rest in peace.
