Richard Andrew Fyola, 93, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026.
Born on July 13, 1933, in Oakdale, Pennsylvania, Richard was the son of Lester A. Fyola and Julia Budzig Fyola. He was a long-term resident of the Rennerdale area.
Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged as a Corporal in the Signal Corps. Following his military service, he utilized the GI Bill to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He went on to enjoy a distinguished 34-year career, beginning as a planning engineer and ultimately retiring as Operations Manager for Columbia Gas.
Richard was a member of St. Patrick Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and a variety of crafts. Above all, he treasured spending time with his family. He was also active in his community, serving as a member of Rotary International and as one of the early members of the Collier Township Sewer Authority.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Carly Fyola; his sons, Glenn (Michele) and Dale (Linda); and his cherished grandchildren Brian, Eric and Jeffrey.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, Donald, of Aurora, Colorado.
A private bedside service was held at St. Clair Hospital, where Richard passed peacefully. In accordance with his wishes, he will be cremated, with final interment with his wife, Marlene.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Richard’s honor to support his son, Dale R. Fyola, who is courageously battling Stage IV cancer, at: 141 Briwood Dr, Canonsburg, PA 15317
