Richard Gordon Seaver

Richard Gordon Seaver, of Hickory, passed away surrounded by the love of the family he cherished above all else. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, businessman, and friend, Gordon leaves behind a legacy built on hard work, loyalty, laughter, and unconditional love.

Gordon was the beloved husband of Donna Lee Alexander Seaver, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, partnership and a marriage of 56 years. He was a proud father to Mark (Kelly), Jen (Casey), and Kim (Tim), uncle to Linda and Sarah, but nothing brought him greater joy than being “Pappy” to his eight treasured grandchildren: Graham, Kate, Kendall, Tyler, Ryan, Emily, Brooke, and Kade. He was their biggest fan, faithfully cheering them on from the sidelines, in the stands, and wherever their adventures took them.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Beulah McClain Seaver and Paul Revere Seaver and his sister Norma Jean Raymont.

Fifty years ago, Gordon founded Pittsburgh Foam Products, building not only a successful business but also lifelong friendships. To Gordon, customers were never just customers—they became some of his dearest friends. His integrity, generosity, and genuine care for others earned him the respect and admiration of everyone fortunate enough to know him. When he wasn’t working, Gordon could often be found riding his mower and tending to his 40-acre farm with pride. He was a devoted fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and could usually be found watching a game, celebrating a win, or hoping for the next one. Yet nothing compared to the happiness he found spending time with his family and supporting his grandchildren in all their sporting events and activities.

Gordon will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and unwavering devotion to his family. His presence made every conversation warmer, and every life he touched richer. He never held back the feelings that he felt for you and was often brought to tears with the pride and joy that he felt.

Though he will be deeply missed, his love, values, and countless memories will continue to live on through the family and friends who were blessed to know him.

Forever loved, forever remembered. A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
