Richard “Rich” Michael Doubt

Captain (USAF Ret.) Richard “Rich” Michael Doubt, age 82, of McKees Rocks, passed away on June 29, 2026.

Captain Doubt was born on August 31, 1943, the beloved son of the late John Matthew Doubt and Dorothy Elizabeth Finnegan Doubt.

Following his graduation from the St. Frances de Sales High School in 1961, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. His first assignment took him to Bentwaters Royal Air Force in England, where he served in the Military Police. During the Vietnam War, he was deployed throughout Southeast Asia.  Following the war, he served as the Laser Vulnerability Project Manager at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory and the Air Force representative for the FB-111 aircraft program with General Dynamics.  Rich and his family were stationed in England, Maine, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

During his military career, Captain Doubt earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Oklahoma State University and a Master of Business Administration from New Mexico Highlands University.  He also received numerous honors and decorations, including the Air Force Longevity Service Award with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters and Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the Air Force Commendation Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster.

After his military career Rich earned and enjoyed great success with Boeing Military Airplane Company, General Dynamics, General Electric Aerospace, Martin Marietta and General Dynamics Armament Systems.

Rich was a loving father to Susan Doubt Griffin (John) of Houston, Texas and Michael Alan Doubt (Susan) of Bixby, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his siblings, Melinda May Doubt Stultz and Raymond Matthew Doubt (Patti); his cherished grandchildren, John Kelly Griffin, Christopher Harris Griffin, and Andrew Alan Doubt; and many nieces and nephews.

A proud veteran and lifelong aviation enthusiast, Rich’s passion for flight shaped much of his life. He was an accomplished pilot, an aviation expert, and a devoted docent at an aviation museum, where he enjoyed sharing his extensive knowledge and love of aircraft with visitors of all ages.

In addition to his love of aviation, Rich was a dedicated member of his church community and a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he enjoyed fellowship and service to others.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, John William Doubt.

Rich will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, patriotism, and the passion he brought to the things he loved most. He will be remembered with love, gratitude, and respect by all who knew him.

A funeral service with full military honors will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd, Bridgeville, PA 15017.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Rich’s memory.
