Robert “Bob” P. Wagner, of Strabane, passed away on the evening of Tuesday, November 21, 2017. He was born August 12, 1946, the middle son of the late Charles Wagner and Marie Manes Wagner. He married the love of his life and high school sweet heart, Rosemary Lombardi Wagner, who survives him.
Bob was retired from Cellones Bakery. He was a lifelong baseball fan, particularly of the New York Yankees. He played baseball throughout his youth and early adulthood before spending time as a sports writer for the Canonsburg Daily Notes Newspaper in 1960s. Bob loved his family and nearly any type of friendly sport or game, most notably horseshoes or bowling. Bob enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. At family gatherings, he was always at the center of any comedic family anecdote, discussions concerning regional sports, or even more likely, a lively game of euchre.
In addition to his beloved, surviving are his five children, Annette Matusky, of Washington, Maria (Gregory) Binotto, of Strabane, Bobbi (Timothy) DiClaudio of South Fayette, Carla (Joshua) Mankey of Strabane, and Robert (Kelly) Wagner Jr., of Mars; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; brother, Dale “Mickey” (Penny) Wagner of Mercer, PA and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles J. “Skip” Wagner.
In lieu of traditional formal services, friends will be received Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 1-4 pm at the SNPJ, 269 Latimer Ave., Strabane, PA 15363, where a family wake will be held in celebration of his life, as was his request.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s on behalf of Rosie’s Rescuers at www.alz.org.
