Robert Gagne passed away on December 21, 2025.
He was born on May 4, 1932 in Fall River, Mass., the son of Albert and Laurette Gagne.
Robert graduated from St. Anne Elementary School and Msgr. Prevost High School in Fall River, Mass. He played basketball on the high school team that won the state championship in Boston. He joined the Naval Reserves in 1950 as a High School senior, and obtained a BS degree in Chemistry at the UMass/ Dartmouth in 1954. After graduation, he went on active duty for two years as an ET3 electronic technician on the USS TARAWA CVS 40.
He retired as a Research Associate at PPG Glass Industries in Harmarville Twp., Pa. after 33 years as a glass Research Chemist. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh Conference for Analytical Chemistry and was President of the Jaycees in New Kensington, Pa.
Upon retirement, he moved to Myrtle Beach, S.C. in August of 1999 and joined the Knights of Columbus, Council 7531, and served as Financial Secretary and later as Treasurer. At the Catholic Church of St. James he was the publisher of the quarterly church newsletter for eight years and founding member of the Columbarium Committee in 2007.
He became the first President of the SpringLake Home Owners Association in 2000 and the first Safety Chairman of the Carolina Forest Civic Association in 2009. He became a weekly columnist on safety for the local Carolina Forest Chronicle newspaper in June, 2013 for two years.
Survivors include his spouse: Catherine Ann Piechocki Gagne; children: Michael Andrew Gagne, Stephen Robert Gagne (Carrie Durny), Annette Rose Grazioso (Guy) from his first wife Carmela Eleanora Zappala; eight grandchildren Andrew Stephen Gagne, Evan Michael Gagne, Anthony Robert Grazioso, Mia Rose Grazioso, Stephanie Rose Gagne, Joseph Richard Gagne, Drew Thomas Gagne, Grace Seiler Gagne all living in the Pittsburgh area.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Normand Gagne and sister, Jeanette (McGarvey) Messmer.
