Roberta was an active member of Wrights UMC of Venetia and Edwards Chapel UMC of Finleyville, where her son, “Rick” is the pastor. She was an original “foodie” that volunteered for 60 years, at Grace UMC in Sharpsburg, cooking and feeding many through church and community outreach. She loved music and was an all-sports enthusiast, especially for the Pirates, Steelers and Pens and a lifetime Kennywood season pass holder. Of all her passions, spending time with family and friends and sharing one of her famous homemade apple pies was most important.

Roberta loved this verse... Please do not be unhappy just because I’m out of sight. Remember that I’m with you every morning, noon and night. That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, “I welcome you” I’ll miss you Sis. ✨

Aunt Roberta was always Summertime in person for me. That’s how my memories feel. She was always ready to go with the flow, on to the next interesting thing. Want homemade peach ice cream on the spot? Let's do it. Apple pie? Easy. How about 50 of those pies for church? She was on it. I can't remember ever hearing her say a negative word (and if I did, well, I’ll just remember that I didn’t). If there was anything anybody needed, she was there. Drive across the country to California with my Dad and Mom to see my baby daughter? Yep, they did that. Summer memories at my Aunt’s house are especially vivid. My fascination with deep Time began with my childhood explorations of those Appalachian hillsides with ancient rock and fossils. Clear creeks with salamanders and fishes. Catching fireflies. The love when all our family could come together, cousin Rick on guitar and my Mom and Dad and sister singing. Conversations about nothing in particular deep into night. My mom and Aunt Roberta laughing about something or helping cheer on the Steelers. Aunt Roberta lived every day complete and full to her liking, without concern for the things she didn’t want to do. I like to feel that her life was complete like that. Knowing her family is safe. No regrets for things not done. A comfortable peace with life.
