Roger Victor Riggs Sr.

Roger Victor Riggs Sr., age 85, of Washington, went to be with Jesus on August 30, 2021, surrounded by family in his home after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

He was born on February 22, 1936 to the late Senate and Ruth Riggs.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1958.  He retired from Bethlehem Steel in 1998 after 34 years of service.

On March 10, 1955 he married Martha Hatzell who survives.  He is survived by four sons Roger Riggs Jr. of Cokeburg, PA, Dennis Riggs of Pittsburgh, PA, David (Becca) Riggs if Huntsville, AL and Darren (Jennifer) Riggs of Washington; John Nusser of Cokeburg, who is like another son for 30 years. Also survived by two granddaughters Samantha and Megan Riggs of West Virginia; one great grandson Tucker.

He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his faithful dog Babi Gurl.

He is also survived by a sister Deanna (Charles) Lapp of West Virginia; two sister-in-laws Ella Coen and Alberta Hancher both of Washington, PA.

Deceased is a brother Senate Riggs Jr. and a brother in law William “Bill” Coen that was like a brother to him.

Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He will be remembered as a kind and loving soul who was always quick with a joke.  He was loved by all. He was a member of the Living Water’s Church of God.  At Roger’s request there will be no public visitation.

There will be a private memorial service at the time of burial.

I am so sorry to hear of Roger's passing. Dawn told us at the reunion that he wasn't doing well then. He was the funniest cousin I had. He was always doing and saying the funniest stuff. He was one of my favorite cousins. I will miss him at the reunions. I loved him. My condolences to you Martha and the family.. God bless you all and comfort you. Love your cousin Joy
