Ronald W. Holmes

Ronald W. Holmes, 70, of Canonsburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

Born on March 5, 1956, in Washington, PA, Ron was the beloved son of the late William and Thelma Holmes.

Ron was a man who found great joy in the company of his family and friends. He was a member of the Muse Italian Club, the Polish National Union, and the North American Hunting Club. An avid outdoorsman, Ron especially enjoyed hunting and spending time with the people he loved.

Above all, Ron will be remembered for the way he cared for his family. He was a devoted son who selflessly cared for his mother through her final days. He was also a beloved caretaker and an “Uncle Dad” to his nieces and nephews, always willing to be there for them, offer guidance, lend a helping hand, or simply spend time together. His family knew they could count on Ron, and the love he gave them was one of the greatest gifts he leaves behind.

Ron is survived by his former wife, Barbara Pauley; his brothers, James Allen Holmes, Brian Holmes, and Carl “Rod” Holmes; his sister, Kathleen Atkinson; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his brother, William Holmes III.

Ron’s legacy will live on through the many family members he cared for and the countless memories he created with them. His generosity, loyalty, and devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Inurnment with military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies on Friday, October 2, 2026 at 1:30 pm.
