Roy W. Burkhart Jr., age 67, of McKees Rocks, formerly of Wilkinsburg, passed away on April 29, 2025.
Born on June 6, 1957, he was the son of the late Roy W. Burkhart Sr. and Virginia Denbow.
He was the loving father of his daughters Angela (Ryan) Atkins and Nicole Burkhart (Matt Allen), his son Michael (Heather) Burkhart, and honorary daughter Rachel Hedges (Mark Webb); and cherished Pap Pap of Tony, Sebastian, Isla, Juliet and Noelle.
Roy snuck into the Navy at 16 and proudly served for 10 months in Italy and Brooklyn. He spent 32 years as a Postal Worker before his retirement. His goals of buying a home, retiring early, and spending time with his children and grandchildren became his accomplishments.
Roy was a connoisseur of life’s simpler pleasures. He enjoyed spending time with his family on “Dad Days,” chatting on the phone with his best bud (Nicole), diving into a challenging puzzle, and making homemade bread just as his dad did when he was a child. He was a devoted fan of scary movies, a YouTube rabbit hole explorer, and loved music of all different genres. His Spotify playlist included everything from Deep Purple to Cardi B.
A true pop culture aficionado and an avid wannabe inventor, Roy was fun! His stories were often wild and always hilarious. More than anything, Roy was enthusiastic, entertaining, and had an incredible sense of humor. He kept everyone laughing up until the very end.
Roy Burkhart lived life on his own terms – always with a joke on his lips, stories from his past, dreams for his future, and love for his children. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the joy of knowing him.
All services will be private and are entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, McMurray, PA.
