Sarah “Sallie” Jean Beck, 81, of Mt. Lebanon, died September 11, 2022, surrounded by love.  Sallie lived a beautiful life and passed after courageously living with Alzheimer’s disease. Born December 12,  1940, she was the daughter of Sarah (Sade) Gardom Davis and Samuel Davis of Dormont, PA.

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she is especially cherished by her children and their families: Nancy (Beck) Hill, son-in-law David and grandchildren Renée and Lewis; Barbara Beck; Carl Beck and daughter-in-law Kerry; Susan (Beck) Myers and grandsons Cole, Owen and Sam; and Bill Beck and daughter-in-law Beth and granddaughters Sarah and Charlotte.

She is also deeply loved by her brother Richard (Dick) Davis, his wife Maryann, her sister-in-law and special friend, Connie Davis, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her brothers Samuel (Dave) and Douglas (Lee) Davis.

Sallie graduated from Dormont High School in 1958 and was married in 1963.

While raising her children, she put herself through Community College of Allegheny County, earning a degree in medical records. Sallie worked at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh for 20 years until her retirement in 2006.

Sallie enjoyed camping, spending time at the lake, reading, listening to music and genealogy research.  She especially loved spending time with her family, including their dogs. After her retirement, she became a volunteer and board member of the Dormont Historical Society where she put her organizational and research skills to work preserving her hometown’s memories.

A person who lived her faith, she was an example to others of how to be of service. Sallie was very active in peace and justice work through her church, Sunnyhill, and a part of their Caring Committee. For many years, she supported local homeless families, sharing her love by providing meals and care.

All who knew Sallie will remember her quiet intelligence, gentleness, and compassion.  One of her favorite Bible verses was Micah 6:8.

What does the Lord require of you

but to do justice, and to love kindness

and to walk humbly with your God?
