Susan Dorsey Bond

Pittsburgh, PA — The family of Susan Dorsey Bond mourns her passing on Friday, April 14, 2026, at AHN Palliative Care in Wexford, PA. Susan was born on February 5, 1942, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late Baird L. Dorsey and Ida M. Stephenson.

Susan spent her youth in Ben Avon and attended Avonworth High School before continuing her education at the University of Pittsburgh, where she met her husband, George L. Bond III.

She loved spending time at the beaches of Avalon, NJ, and Hilton Head Island, SC, and cherished playing bridge and golf with her many friends at St. Clair Country Club.

Susan was a past member of the Junior League of Pittsburgh, St. Clair Country Club, and the Duquesne Club.

She had a wonderful sense of humor, often expressed with a touch of mischief, and will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Susan was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Bond III. She is survived by her brother, John Dorsey (Carmel) of Avalon, NJ; her three children, Tracey Bond, Heather Down (David), and Carrie Gordon, all of Pittsburgh, PA; and her three grandchildren, Evan Down, Caroline Down, and Herbert Benjamin Gordon.

Susan’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude and deep appreciation to the caregivers and staff at AHN in Wexford for their compassionate care.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
