Dear Annika... My daughter, Michelle Peterson, let me know about your mom's sudden and unexpected passing yesterday. My heart is so sad. When I think of her, I smile because she lived life in such a playful and enthusiastic way. While her physical presence has passed, her spirit lives on in those who love her. I am sorry that I cannot attend Susan's service on February 13th, but I will be there in spirit. Annika, may you find comfort and peace as you travel through this journey through grief...Judi PS: Annika, would you please email me your mailing address so I can send you a card?

Over 25 years ago Susan was married for a short period of time to my dad and I spent a couple of summers with my sister visiting them when they lived in Morningside because she was so insistent that we be included in their life. Susan was the most incredible human I had ever met, she opened my eyes to being me and loving who I was and embracing what I was interested in. She taught me to have no shame in who I was. She made a major impression on me at such a tender age. She treated my sister with so much love and understanding. When Susan and dad split she made sure to send us a letter to let us know how much she cared about us. Several years later we were able to visit again and this time our Aunt took us to see Susan and this time we got to meet Annika, it was amazing to see that there was a tiny version of Susan with beautiful eyes, a welcoming heart and so much happiness. I am deeply saddened that she is gone but may her legacy and memory live on in all of us in the love that she shared.
