Thomas “Chico” Madera, age 67, passed away suddenly on March 17, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Caroline and Benny Madera, and his sisters, Issabella Gledich and Stephanie Christy.

Thomas is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 43 years, Sona; his brother, Ernie; his brother-in-law, Rendell; and extended family including Jason, Jayne, and Zoe Juarez. He is also survived by his nieces, Janell, Kendra, Lauren, Stacey, Eva, Riley, and Jazman; his nephews, Michael and Dion; and was a proud “Hockey Tio” to Austen and Beaue.

Thomas was a dedicated and hardworking man. A proud Union bricklayer, he was employed by Marsa Corporation for 37 years and had planned to retire at the age of 70. He truly loved his job and the many friendships he built over the years with his coworkers, whom he considered like family. Special thanks are extended to his close friends Toby, “Dude,” Butch, and Robin (Cuz”).

Known for his kindness and generosity, Thomas was always just a phone call away for anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In accordance with Thomas’ wishes, there will be no funeral services. Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to make a donation to a veterans organization or an animal rescue in his name.

My condolences go out to Sona and his family. Chico and I met working for Cost corporation when he was still an apprentice, so that’s a while ago. Tommy was one of the hardest and most reliable worker I ever work with truly a professional and proud of him as a journeyman. May God give you peace.
