Vance Lee Lydon, age 69, of Pittsburgh, passed away on January 4th. He was born on March 26, 1956, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Martin and Helen Lydon.
Vance was the beloved fiancé of Billie Schlaegle and a loving father to Cassandra Lydon and her husband, Bruce Kitts. He was a devoted brother to Marta (Jerry) Andrulonis and is also survived by his nephew, Jeffrey (Ellen) Andrulonis, his cousin, Martin (Barb) Mather, and close family and friends, including his longtime friend Russ Patterson.
A graduate of Langley High School, Vance retired from Bayer Corporation after 38 years in the maintenance department, where he was admired for his strong work ethic and dependability. During his time at Bayer, he was an active member of the Emergency Response Team, where he excelled in fire and safety training and was recognized by his colleagues for his skill and dedication.
An avid car enthusiast, he especially loved his Corvette and was a lifelong NASCAR fan. Earlier in life, he also enjoyed carpentry and marksmanship. Above all, Vance found great joy in time spent with his family and friends, who were the center of his life.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for the reliability, kindness, and humor he brought to everyone around him.
Friends and family are welcome on Tuesday, January 13th, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136.
