Walter Edward Kiryk, Jr., age 79, of Robinson Township, formerly of Stowe Township (West Park), McKees Rocks, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Friday, May 15, 2026, following a brief battle with a recurrence of cancer.
Born on October 8, 1946, in McKees Rocks, he was the son of the late Walter E. Kiryk Sr. and Jean E. Kiryk (Stewart).
Walter proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Conflict. Following his military service, he began a distinguished four-decade career as an accountant and controller for numerous automobile dealerships throughout the region.
Walt was the beloved husband of the late Amy Louise Kiryk, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage built on love, devotion, and family. He was a loving father to Gary M. Kiryk (Amy) and Michael J. Kiryk (Mindy), and a proud and devoted grandfather to Elena Noel Kiryk. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
For many years, Walt was actively involved with the Montour Youth Soccer Association, serving in a variety of roles including coach and referee. He also served as a PIAA official for more than 10 years. Walt will be remembered as a devout Christian, a straight shooter, and someone who valued honesty and hard work. He especially enjoyed long drives in search of the perfect bakery, but above all else, his greatest joy in life was being a grandfather.
A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
