Wilbert Lee Duke, 87, of Pleasant Hills, PA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 27, 2026.

Born on October 24, 1938, in Kilgore, Texas, he was the beloved son of the late Robert and Dorrine Duke.

Will proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1959 to 1961. He was a lifelong member of the Steamfitters Union, dedicating many years to his trade with integrity and hard work.

Will had a deep love for life and the people who shared it with him. He treasured weekends spent at Cheat Lake with friends, where laughter and stories were always plentiful. He loved to travel and could happily spend hours talking about the places he had explored or destinations still on his wish list. Whether on the golf course or playing volleyball with his close-knit group of friends, Will embraced every opportunity for camaraderie and fun.

At home, Will was happiest when surrounded by family. He loved hosting gatherings filled with home-cooked meals and was especially known for making some of the best sweet tea around. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a true gift for gab — never short on a story or a clever remark. His proudest moments were those spent cheering on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He delighted in sharing their accomplishments with anyone who would listen, beaming with pride at the mention of their names.

Will was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage, and by his daughter, Sherri Jones.

He is survived by his loving children, Lori (Jamie Kemp) Duke-Brock, Michael (Wendy) Duke, and Susan Runyan. He was a proud grandfather to Hunter (Angela) Brock, Madison Duke, Cassidy (Jason) Shappee, Nik Runyan, and Logan Runyan, and a cherished great-grandfather to Mei Brock, Maize, and Riley Shappee. Will is also survived by his brother, Robert (Joan) Duke, along with several beloved nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. Prayers will be said at 12:30 pm, following the viewing. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, PA.

Will will be remembered for his warm hospitality, endless stories, hearty laughter, and the deep, abiding love he had for his family and friends.

Lori and family. Our thoughts are with you as you honor your dad’s life and legacy. Your father must clearly have been a remarkable man to have a daughter like Lori who has always demonstrated her caring and thoughtfulness to all of her colleagues at USAID. I'm confident that your dad loved his family deeply and lived his life fully. May you find comfort in your recollections of your dad and your time with him. All of us are holding you and your family close in our thoughts during this difficult time.

My most sincere condolences to Duke’s family. He was one of the first neighbors I met when I moved into Jefferson Pointe. In one of our first conversations he mentioned where he had worked and I immediately knew he had to be a steam fitter. I questioned that and our conversation then quickly revealed that Duke and my brother were in the same apprenticeship class and knew each other well. From that day forward we spent many days on our porches reminiscing about all the many friends we had in common and good times shared by all. Duke was always ready to greet all his neighbors with a friendly wave… a quick smile… and a good story. He will be long remembered and missed 😢🙏🏻

Susa, Mike, and Lori, Your Dad was a great man. I grew up around him and loved going to the lake. He did make the best tea I ever tasted. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
