William I. McClure

William “Bill” McClure, 94, of Canonsburg, PA, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.

Born on June 28, 1932, in Munntown, PA, Bill was the beloved son of the late George and Hazel McClure. He attended the Munntown School House and, following graduation, proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953.

On August 11, 1956, Bill married the love of his life, Joan (Phillips) McClure, in Winchester, Virginia. Together they built a beautiful life in Canonsburg, sharing 62 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to one another and their family.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with those he loved most. He enjoyed boxing, car racing, fishing, and passionately cheering on his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He took tremendous pride in caring for his lawn and loved being outdoors whenever he had the chance. Bill was known for his kind and generous heart, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and his remarkable ability to fix just about anything. Family and friends knew they could always count on him.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Bill became a glazier and built a distinguished career in the trade. He joined the union in 1956 and dedicated decades to his craft, serving as a glazing supervisor until his retirement in 1993. Never one to sit still, he returned to work from 1999 to 2001, contributing his expertise to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates stadiums—a fitting capstone to a career defined by hard work, exceptional craftsmanship, and pride in every project he touched.

Bill is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Joan; his daughter, Renee (the late Ed) Campbell; and his son, Jeffrey McClure.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving children, William McClure, Jr. of Canonsburg and Melissa McClure (Mike Hartman) of Scenery Hill; his cherished grandchildren, Jenny Taylor (Trent) of Ellicott City, Maryland, Matthew Golubosky of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Liam Dunn and Celia McClure (Steven) of Washington, Pennsylvania, and McKayla Hartman of Scenery Hill, Pennsylvania; and his adored great-grandchildren, Bellana, Annaka, and Ryker Taylor of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Amelia Thompson of Washington, Pennsylvania.

Dear brother of Susie (the late Chas) Maryernik, and the late Jo Ann (the late Pete) Pearsall; also many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Family and friends will meet on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, promptly at 10:00 a.m. to process to the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, where military honors and burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. A celebration of Bill’s life will follow the burial at McCelland Pavillion in North Strabane Park.
