When a friend or co-worker loses a loved one, you feel bad for what they are going through. One of the biggest things you can do is attend the cremation services in Pittsburgh, PA if they are open to the public or you are invited. Your presence and support at that type of service can mean more than anything you can send. However, if you can’t make the service, or if the public is not welcome, here are a few things you can send to show your friend that you are thinking of them and support them in this hard time.
Flowers
Depending on the kind of cremation service the family is having, flowers often work just as well for cremation services as they do for funerals. They act as decorations for the room during the memorial and they are a lovely thing for everyone to look at and honor their loved one. You can have the florist put something together for you or you can choose flowers yourself for the occasion. You can also put together a silk arrangement that the family can keep. And, some people send plants like peace lilies that their friends can then take home to remember the occasion and their loved one.
Food
Food is always welcome at these types of services. The family can either use it as part of a reception or take it home for themselves. It’s nice to package up some meals that they can freeze if you intend for them to take it home. It’s a nice way for them to care for themselves in the coming days and weeks without having to cook. They will be grateful to you for thinking of them as well.
Blankets
There are many different forms of blankets you could send. You could simply send something soft and in your friend’s favorite color. They can wrap up in it and feel your hug when they need it. You could also send a prayer blanket that you and possibly others have prayed over specifically for your friend if you think they would appreciate that. Or you could handmake something in honor of them or their loved one if you are fast enough at creating such things.
Cards And Money
If you can’t think of anything or you don’t have a lot of time to spare, you might want to just send a card with some money in it. Sympathy cards can be very meaningful as well and when you place money inside, the family can use that to go towards the service costs, or they can donate it to a charity of their choice to honor their loved one.
