Edward “Mark” Bonnet

After a brief but courageously fought battle against cancer, Edward “Mark” Bonnet, age 72, was called to meet his Maker surrounded by his family on February 19, 2024. He was born March 5, 1951 in Canonsburg to the late Edward Joseph Bonnet and Margaret (Tizik) Bonnet. He is preceded in death by his parents, his infant daughter, Mary Margaret Bonnet, and his beloved nephew Elijah Jarad Bonnet. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen (Simon) Bonnet, his daughters, Elyssa Rhenae Bonnet and Brittany Layne Bonnet, his son, Colin Edward (Lauren Morgan) Bonnet, and his sister, Roberta “Bobbi” (Bradley) Koski. A resident of Moon Township for 47 years, Mark grew up in McDonald and was known as “Quinner” by many of his childhood friends. He attended Fort Cherry High School and Geneva College and proudly served his country as a member of the U. S. Army, where he spent two and one half years in Germany as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. Upon discharge, he began a career in the steel industry as an Electronics and Environmental Process Engineer employed by J&L Steel Aliquippa Works. In the early 1980’s Mark returned to school and earned a degree in computer information technology and was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation testing the people mover for the new Pittsburgh International Airport. In the early 1990’s, Mark, once again, found himself working in the steel industry employed by U. S. Steel Clairton Works until his retirement. Mark enjoyed the game of golf, both playing and watching matches on television, and participated in many outings with friends, as well as “special” outings with his daughters on Father’s Day. He loved music and attended many concerts during the course of his life. He was also very involved with his children’s sporting events and served as the Softball Commissioner and coached many of the softball teams in Moon Township. Once his mobility became limited, Mark enjoyed passing his time loving and playing with his cats, having long phone conversations with family and friends, playing sudoku on his tablet and watching the antics of the hummingbirds that visited his feeder. Per Mark’s request, there will be no services. Rather, a Celebration of Life Luncheon will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2024, from 1PM to 4PM at SNPJ Lodge 106 Clubroom, 255 W. Allegheny Road, Imperial, PA 15126. Family as well as all friends of Mark, Karen, Elyssa, Brittany, Colin and Bobbi are invited to attend and are encouraged to bring memories and stories to share.
