Floyd Ridley of Canonsburg, PA “changed his address to heaven” on May 27, 2023 at the age of 78. Floyd was born on November 3, 1944 to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ridley in Milford, PA.

From a young age, Floyd struggled with alcoholism. He spent forty years train hopping across the country and living on the streets, earning him the name “The Renegade.” During that time, he was married twice.  He also had three children.  In his words, his life turned around when he “met a man who changed his life.”

In 2005, Floyd was hospitalized for a large number of health issues. Facing death, Floyd told the Lord that if He had enough mercy left to save him, he would follow God and do whatever He wanted him to do for the rest of his life. Miraculously, he began to get better. When he had fully recovered, Floyd made good on his promise.

Floyd got a job at Greenbriar Treatment Center as a drug and alcohol counselor. After retiring, he started his own ministry to addicts and the homeless in Washington and Allegheny counties. He collected clothes, distributed food, and prayed with anyone who was willing to talk to him. He also fulfilled a lifelong desire of reconnecting with his children.

Floyd was also an active member of Champion Christian Center and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Floyd loved to tell everyone he knew about how good God had been to him. He frequently spoke at churches and AA meetings and authored two books about his experiences. His life is a testimony of God’s grace and power to save anyone, no matter what they used to do. He believed that if God could change his life and restore his family to him, He can do it for anyone.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold O’Brien, Billy Ridley, John Ridley, and Arthur Ridley and his sisters Gertrude Ridley-Smith and Marilynn Hunt. He is survived by his children Jennifer (Dennis) Wieberg, Shauna Whipps, and Chris (Catie) Voshell, grandchildren Kayla Champ, Ashley Wieberg, Andrea Wieberg, Jacob (Summer) Ramirez, Katie Bell, Georgianna Bell, Mariella Whipps, Gage Voshell, and Mason Voshell, great-grandsons Lucas Long and Tyler Champ, brothers Robert Ridley (Erma) and Richard Ridley, sister Patsy Taylor, sister-in-law Jane Ridley, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on June 27, 2023 at 6pm at Champion Christian Center In Washington, PA.  A graveside service will be held June 29, 2023 at 10:30 am at the Milford Cemetery in Milford, PA. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Light of Life Rescue Mission or Washington City Mission in Floyd’s name.

Once a legend in his own mind, and then humbly and richly transformed to a disciple of Jesus Christ; I love Floyd as a friend, and as a brother in Christ; he will be dearly missed by me and countless people, but I feel Joy, knowing that he is with King Jesus in paradise; I will see you at the gate good and faithful servant, always, your brother in Christ, Joe Lopez
