John “Jack” Hytla

John “Jack” E. Hytla, 85 of Oakdale, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023. He was born in Pittsburgh on April 23, 1938, the son of the late Stanley and Mary Hytla. Beloved husband of 65 years to Dorothy; loving father of Arlene (Raymond) Lickert, John W. (Josi) Hytla, Kimberly (Daniel) Durkin, Michael (Michelle) Hytla, and Paul (Nadine) Hytla. Brother of Charles (Patricia) Hytla, Cathy (Robert) Sobocinski, Carol (the late Ron) Mazza, the late Mary Lou Hytla, and the late Alice (Robert) Donatelli. Also 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Jack was a member of the American Legion Post 862. He was an avid Steeler fan and enjoyed playing darts. He coached girls softball and boys baseball. He loved spending time with his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by his fur buddy Mandy as well as many friends and extended family.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, 5405 Steubenville Pike, Robinson Township, PA 15136. A Blessing Service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 10 am. Burial will follow at Holy Souls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 862, Robinson Township, 2275 McKees Rocks Rd, McKees Rocks, PA 15136 or the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, 1101 Western Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15233.

To Dorothy and family,I’m so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed working with Jack a lot of years at McGinnis. We always had a lot of laughs.

Dorothy and family , So sorry to hear of Jacks passing . Had a lot of good years working at McGinnis with him and always going over the VFW for a few cold ones after work .Jack was a really good guy .
