James T. Anderson, age 78 of Plum Borough, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020. He was born in Pittsburgh on April 20, 1942 and is the son of the late Robert and Helen Anderson.

James was a traveling hotel general manager. He worked all over the country managing hotels for more than 50 years. He is survived by his children, Kathy (Douglas) Anderson-Schwarcz, Robert (Debbie) Anderson and Alexis Anderson; grandchildren, Jennifer, Shannon and Brianna Simpson, Robbie and Marissa Anderson; great-grandson Grayson Simpson.

I have many memories through the years with Jim (Alexis is my cousin). I have visited many of the places he managed through the years. I have fond memories of Oklahoma, where he was the consummate host. He just wanted his guests to have a great experience. One amazing memory happened when I was in my 20’s. Jim had just taken a management position in Virginia. I was coming up 95 and couldn’t drive anymore, I was exhausted in was near 11:00 p.m. and there was an accident up ahead. So, I pulled off the road and saw a hotel. I had known that he had just moved to Virginia but did not know which hotel. No cell phones in those days. I was never so happy to see the wooden plaque that said, “Welcome James Anderson.” He had just started and God paved the way for me to stop at the very hotel where Jim had moved! He has helped me in many ways like that. We’ll miss you Jim, rest in peace. We send our sympathies to the whole family.
