Gary R Bittner, Age 71, of Brentwood suddenly on Monday June 14, 2021 was called to his eternal home.
He was the son of the late William and Lillian Bittner.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Bittner; children Shawn (Sylvia) Bittner, Tara Banasick; granddaughters Makayla, Sydney and Brooklyn; sisters Mary Ann (John) Shiring, Janet (Buzz) Pasquini and Barbara (Joe) Driver; nieces and nephews Grant, Kelsey, Gavin, Carly, Gina, Paige and Christy.
Gary had such a love of cars especially Corvettes and car cruises. His passion for hunting at deer camp was known to many and he looked forward to that week every year with his lifetime camp buddies
Still so very proud of his Brentwood High School pole vault record of 12 ft since 1967.  He was a proud  million mile UPS driver for 30 years. Gary will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
His wishes for a private funeral will be granted.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at Pittsburghcremation.com.

Janet, my deepest sympathy to you, Mary Ann, Barbara and your families. I did get to talk with Gary at the 50th class reunion and catch up a little. I know his sisters meant a lot to him and he meant a lot to you three. I hope you find peace in your memories. ❤️ One memory I have of Gary is being asked to go to the Prom with him during our senior year. I had everything bought and planned for that night. A week or so before the Prom, his track relay team qualified for the State Championship at Penn State University. The four fellas on the relay team felt terribly about their dates missing the Prom. After some discussion, the coach decided to let “the dates” ride to PSU on the van with the four track team members so we wouldn’t miss out on a fun weekend. It was a great experience! We were only there for the day, but we all enjoyed the excitement of the championship meet and seeing the campus. Gary apologized many times for my missing the Prom. We laughed. After graduating from Pitt, I became a high school teacher and eventually a school administrator. During that time, I chaperoned countless proms, but none were as exciting as the Track Meet Prom! The good old days! ❤️ Donna Motyl Belas
