Cherie James Stellfox, age 72 of McMurray, PA formerly Erie, PA passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, January 19, 2019. Born on October 13, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Howell L. “Bud” James Jr. and Barbara Teal James. Dear sister to H. Lester (Patricia) James III and Alan “Punk” (Margaret) James.

Beloved wife to Richard K. “Rick” Stellfox Sr. for 46 years. Loving mother to R. Kendell (Emily) Stellfox Jr., Teal (Katie) James Stellfox, Brittny (David) Anna Smith, and Cori (Daniel) Stellfox Weber. Cherished grandmother to David James “D.J.”, Cameron, Aurora, Uriah, Kayleigh, Elizabeth “Ella”, and Zachery.

Cherie graduated from Fairview High School in 1964 and Slippery Rock University in 1968.  Cherie worked as a Physical Education Teacher at Keystone Oaks School District in Pittsburgh, PA for 42 years.  During her teaching career she was heavily involved in many activities including coaching and the teachers union.  Cherie had a love for many different hobbies and collecting over her lifetime. In her retirement her greatest joy was spending time with her 7 grandchildren and escaping the cold to their Florida home.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, January 24th from 2 PM – 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 25th at 11 AM at Center Presbyterian Church, 255 Center Church Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 941-9050.  Interment will take place at Forest Lawn Gardens in McMurray, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Breast Cancer Foundation, www.nationalbreastcancer.org, or Alzheimer’s Association,www.alz.org.

Ohhhh Cherie....you are already missed by so many. Your kind, loving, generous, fun loving smile and energy are a source of strength and hope for many of us. Cherie will be missed but never forgotten. She touched hundreds of lives at Keystone Oaks. Her spirit, work ethic and enthusiasm is infused in all of us who were fortunate enough to call her friend, teacher or coworker. Words can’t justify how much that I learned from Her.
