James “Jim” Harry Weisgerber II, Age 73 of Belle Vernon, PA, formerly of Connellsville, PA, went to be with the Lord on April 26, 2024. He Follows in the footsteps of Patrick Swayze, Michael Landon, Sally Ride, and Dizzy Gillespie among others. Born November 12, 1950, in Connellsville, he is the son of late James and Vera Maxine Weisgerber.

Jim is the loving father of Christina (Jason) West, James Weisgerber III, Timothy Weisgerber, Aaron Weisgerber, and Deanna (Steve) Riley.Brother of Kathleen (the late Wayne) Simms, Tom (Tamara) Weisgerber, Sue (Greg) Helkowski, and John (Janet) Weisgerber. He is the adoring grandfather of Xavier and Julieana West,
Kirstin (Timsuren), Ocean and Athena Weisgerber, Neil Weisgerber, and Dustin and Janelle Anderson; also, 9 great-grandchildren
and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He earned many decorations and medals including the National Defense Service Medal and the Air Force Overseas Long Tour Ribbon. He retired from duty in 1989.

Throughout retirement James AKA “Mushroom Jim” was an avid outdoorsman with a vast knowledge of foraging, mushrooming, and fishing. He could often be found at Linn Run park fishing, or camping with his family at Kooser State Park. Jim always had time to help a friend or share a lesson using the vast array of knowledge that he had on some very unique topics. He was an enthusiast of history and genealogy, and when not out in nature, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, and keeping up with his photography skills. Jim always had a story to tell, a back country road to get to your destination in hopes of seeing some wildlife, and a history lesson along the way. He will be truly missed by all.

Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA. Inurnment with military honors will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. The date and time will be announced later. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kooser State Park at Friends of Laurel Hill at www.friendsoflhsp.org
