It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of John Phillip Weiss, a man of true entrepreneurial spirit. John was a successful natural gas consultant and founder of O & R Energy. He was a graduate of Dickenson College and proud brother of Phi Kappa Sigma. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the shores of Ocean City, New Jersey as a lifeguard with the OCBP. John will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Mary Jo, his stepchildren, Kathy Auld Schreiber (Greg), Jim Auld, Robin Auld, Jerry Auld (Pam), David Auld (Jen Growall), nephew, Jeff McCready, and very best friends, Bill and Jean Patterson of Sausalito. He will also be sadly missed by his 16 step-grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren, who lovingly call him “Big John”.

John was the son of the late J. Clyde and Florence Weiss and brother of the late Helen “Sissy” Hughes.

The family wishes to thank the entire staff of the Baptist Homes for the loving care provided to John during the past six years.

Family and friends are welcome on Thursday, January 12, 2017 from 12:00PM until the time of service at 2:00PM at Cremation & Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Rd. McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Baptist Homes, 489 Castle Shannon Blvd. Pgh., PA 15234.

With deepest sympathy. It was both an honor and a privilege to know and work with John. He was a wonderful Mentor, a true gentleman and a man of his word. The world is a better place because we were all blessed by his kindness and grace.
