The only thing he loved more than fishing was his family, and when we could put the two things together, it was a perfect day.  Even more so if it occurred in Titusville.

Joshua D. Ackman, of Scott Township, PA, took his last breath while holding his wife’s hand on January 6, 2024.

Born on June 20, 1984, in Pittsburgh, PA, to Amy Riser Ackman of McDonald and Edward Ackman III of ….well, nobody really knows.

Soulmate and devoted husband of Wendy Roe Ackman. Together, they raised four compassionate, sarcastic, and competitive children that also love to fish.  Loving dad to Mikalie (Zachary) Martin, Cainen Roe, Jocelyn Ackman, and Caleb Ackman.  Harassing brother to Jeremy (Emily) Ackman and Kathryn (Mark) Slavkin and fun-loving uncle to many nieces, and nephews.

Joshua graduated from Chartiers Valley High School in 2002.  He enjoyed the shenanigans and friendships he made while working as a laborer and ultimately, the Operations Manager of Flynn’s Tire in Carnegie, PA.  When not throwing tires, he enjoyed playing video games, watching WWE, using his artistic skills, agitating anyone within a 10-foot radius but especially his mom and wife, oh, and we can’t forget chasing the ice cream truck!

When you first met him, he appeared quiet, but once the personality came out there was no stopping him.  If there was one thing Josh loved, it was an audience.  There’s no doubt that he has a pole in the water right now surrounded by his Nana, Pappy, and all the rest of his loved ones while telling Joke time with Cooter jokes and making everyone laugh.

We are choosing not to focus on our loss but to celebrate the beautiful soul that touched so many lives.  A Celebration of Life will be held on February 4, 2024, at the Heildelberg Fire Hall at 3 pm.

Thank you to Concordia Hospice of Washington (Donnell House) for the excellent care they provided in Josh’s last days, and to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care for handling our loss with such grace and care.

Your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Our families have been connected in many ways, but Jason and Josh had a special connection. Josh will be missed by us all.

There are no words to convey what a beautiful soul we lost. Josh truly lit up a room with his wit. There are few people in this world that truly touch your heart and Josh was one of those that did. You are truly and lovingly missed.
