Joycelyn Thomas, age 73 of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on November 12, 2022. Born on March 20, 1949, she is the daughter of the late Otis C. and Katie Mae (Howze) Thomas. Beloved wife of the late Prentice E. Washington. Cherished mother of Jerelyn R. Thomas. Loving sister of Jacqueline Allie and the late Larry O. Thomas. She will also be deeply missed by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joycelyn retired after 35 years as a Recreation Director for City of Pittsburgh, Department of Parks and Recreation. After completing her bachelor’s degree from LaRoche University, she became a Teaching Assistant for Pittsburgh Public Schools where she worked with students with Autism, until she retired in 2014. Joycelyn served on the Board of Directors of the Brashear Association, Neighborhood Centers Association, Community Action Pittsburgh, and Manchester Youth Development Center. She enjoyed dancing, good music, and exotic foods, as well as spending time with close friends and family.

A memorial service will be held at Bidwell Presbyterian Church, 1025 Liverpool Street, Pittsburgh, PA at a later date.
