Linda Dasdorf Bloedel, age 69, of Fort Myers, Florida (formerly of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), passed away on July 19th after a difficult battle with kidney and heart disease. Beloved wife of (the late) Walter Bloedel for 42 years, and mother of (the late) Thomas Bloedel. Cherished sister of David Dasdorf (Terry) and Susan Nystrom Wallace (Chris). Also survived by aunt Rosemary Dasdorf Corkwell, niece Amanda Hoffman (Michael), nephew Nicholas Dasdorf, and great niece Ella Hoffman.

Linda was born on January 20th, 1954 to (the late) George and (the late) Glenna Dasdorf in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Upper St Clair High School in 1972. After raising her son Thomas, Linda pursued a career in the medical field, completing a two-year certification in medical assisting at ICM School of Business & Medical Careers. She landed her first Medical Assisting position at Health America where she worked for several years. After retiring at age 47, Linda continued to work part time in gardening and retail, became a caregiver, and did volunteer work for organizations supporting military veterans (Amvets), shelters for women, and most recently for South Hills Interfaith Movement (SHIM).

Linda was a nature lover with an amazing green thumb. During her healthier years, if she wasn’t tending to her plants and garden, she could likely be found enjoying the outdoors, reading books, snuggling with her beloved cat Rocky, watching movies, cooking, needlepointing, piecing together jigsaw puzzles, engaging in crafts and photography, spending time with friends and family, or helping others. She had a deep appreciation for music and the Arts, a colorful sense of humor, a kind and compassionate heart; often putting the needs of others before her own. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Friends and family will be welcomed on Saturday August 12th, 2023 from 9am-12pm at Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317. A public memorial service to immediately follow at 12pm, same location. Private interment.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a local animal shelter, food pantry, the American Kidney Fund or military veterans organizations, all causes Linda was passionate about.
