Rich was our building's security guard for several years after his "first retirement". I can truly say he always made coming into work a good day! Rich was friendly, helpful, made problems go away, and was always our go-to man when anyone in our department needed assistance with visitors, maintenance issues, etc. He was just great to see first thing in the morning at the front desk and last person as we went out the door--friendly and kind to the max, with a great sense of humor! I don't think I remember in my 40 years at the University ever having a security person known so well by all people in a building, on a first-name basis, and just so darn nice to everyone! We missed him when he retired "the second time", and we miss him still.
