William (Bill) D. Merkle

William (Bill) D. Merkle, 81 of Washington, died Tuesday July 4, 2017, while in the care of Hospice at the Donnell House.

He was born February 22, 1936, in Harrisville, PA son of William L. and Eleanor Merkle.

Bill spent much of his working life with Culligan Water Conditioning and was affectionately known as The Culligan Man.

Mr. Merkle was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

On July 5, 1957, he married Nancy L. Merkle who survives. On July 5 of this year, they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage.

Also surviving are a brother, Paul Merkle (Ginny) of Harrisville, PA., a son, Todd Merkle (Jenni) of Illinois and a daughter, Nancy Merkle of Ohio. He was blessed with four grandchildren and four great children.

Bill was preceded in death by two of his children, Son, Bill Merkle (Sherry) and daughter, Tammy Ealy, (Ray) both of Washington, PA.

At the request of the deceased, there will not be funeral services. The immediate family will have a private celebration of his life.
