Despite having more fish to catch, William (Bill) Mushrush, 83, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2018.
Bill loved his family, Penguins hockey, and serving, unofficially, as Mayor of his neighborhood. He had a passion for the outdoors, enjoyed building things with his hands, and was an avid fisherman. With both humor and charm, he lived life on his own terms.
He was born in the spring of 1935 in Corsica, PA. As a highschool athlete, he excelled in basketball and football. A patriot from a very young age, Bill was proud to join the U.S. Marine Corps and serve in the Korean War.
After the Marines, his career endeavors varied: teacher, salesman, disc jockey, television director, entrepreneur, and news cameraman. All of his jobs – in one way or another – involved storytelling. He knew how to both captivate an audience, and how to leave them wanting more.
He was married to the love of his life, Patti Mushrush (deceased January 2017) for almost 50 years. Together, they had everything. And now, they are together again.
Surviving are his six children Lorrie Hager (Donny), Linda Hindeliter (Jim Jr.), Bill Mushrush Jr. (Jill Hazuda), Jennifer Mushrush (Tony DePaoli), Greta Fahey (Shawn) and Amanda Lofty (Christopher); his sisters Sandy Maul and Carole Wassell; his Aunt Jane Martz; nine grandchildren, Brady Buzard, Nicholas Hager, Samantha Larson (Gregory), Hannah Hager, Gregory Towers, Connor Towers, Shawn Fahey Jr., Ethan Fahey and Ellis Lofty; and a great-grandson, Paxton Larson.
Family and friends welcome to gather anytime from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Cremation and Funeral Care, 3287 Washington Road, McMurray, PA 15317, (724) 260-5546. A burial with full military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

We will miss Bill so much.He and Patti watched our kids grow and always had a popsicle or piece of Patti's chocolate bar for them. We will miss visiting and talking with him - our mayor, crime watcher and #1 Penguins fan.
