Mary Louise Dailey

Mary Louise Dailey, 95, died peacefully on May 15, 2023 at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

She was born on February 1, 1928 to the late Walter F. Adams and Elizabeth Griffiths Adams. She was preceded in death by her three brothers, William Adams of New Jersey, Walter Adams of Maryland, and Donald Adams of Florida.

Mary Lou was married to the love of her life Charles “Chuck” Dailey who passed on October 27, 2004. They had celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage and raised a family of 5 children; Charles Dailey Jr. and wife Patricia of Chattanooga, TN, Robert Dailey and wife Karen of Pleasant Hills, Lynn Yobbi and husband Daniel of Bethel Park, Donald Dailey who preceded her in death on May 17, 1985, and Thomas Dailey and wife Jamie of Monrovia, MD.

“GRAM” will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Edward Dailey and wife Kim, Michael L. Dailey, Katie Minjock and husband Jeff, Amy Friscia and husband Gerard, Olivia Schoolfield and husband Aaron, Michael J. Dailey and wife Lindsey, Eric Yobbi and fiancé Emily Gelman, Christina Dailey, and Brian Dailey. She was blessed with four great grandchildren; Adalyn Minjock, Wyatt Schoolfield, Amelia Friscia, and Bennett Schoolfield, and her two step great grandsons; Logan Narolesky and Evan Narolesky. Gram was always fun and gave each one undivided attention.

She grew up in the Dormont area of Pittsburgh and attended Hillsdale Elementary School and graduated from Dormont High School in 1946. Mary Lou then modeled and attended business school while working at the Creasey Company where she met her future husband Chuck. They were married October 8, 1949 in Pittsburgh. She accompanied him during his various tours of duty in the U.S. Army. Then they started their family and she continued her education and became the principal of the Nativity Church religious education program. She later worked for United Mental Health in Pittsburgh, in sales for an employment agency, and then in her brother’s menu printing company. Mary Lou and Chuck relocated to Jupiter, Florida in 1989 where they enjoyed their retirement together for 15 years. After Chuck’s passing, she remained in Florida for another 13 years before returning to Pittsburgh in 2018. She traveled many, many times to visit her family and friends, and always enjoyed when they in turn came to Florida for many fun visits. While living in Florida for 28 years, she had her extended family, her brother Don Adams and wife Louise and her nieces Chris, Donna, and Linda. She greatly appreciated all the time and activities they enjoyed together.

Mary Lou was full of energy visiting the gym into her 90’s to keep fit, always working on projects and committees, gardening, decorating her home, playing cards, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events, and finding time to make new friendships where ever she went. She was a voracious reader and loved listening to music (old and new) and dancing. She kept up with modern times, the news, politics, and financial world. She was a great cook and made the best pies, and was always dressed to the nines. She loved to entertain and attend social events. She was famously known for her annual Christmas parties where great food, drink, and laughter were plentiful. She always maintained a positive attitude and strived to celebrate life every day.

GRAM, we love you a bushel and a peck . . . and will have you in our hearts and memories forever.

A funeral mass will be held June 3, 2023 at 10:00 am. at St. Valentines Catholic Church-Our Lady of Hope Parish, 2710 Ohio Street, Bethel Park, PA 15102, in celebration of Mary Louise’s life.

The family requests, that in lieu of flowers, random acts of kindness be performed in Mary Lou’s memory, adding Joy to the World just as she did!
