Joan V. Saxon, 91 died peacefully at Country Meadows in Bridgeville PA on November 18, 2017. Joan was the fourth child born to Florence and James Plant in Birmingham England on January 6, 1926. She was married on November 17,1945 in England to John Saxon, who preceded her in death on April 18, 1998, after 52 years of marriage.

At 19 years of age with the conclusion of WWII, Joan traveled to this country alone to begin a new life. Joan brought with her a love of knitting, particularly for new grand babies. These gems remain in the family, intact, and ready to be passed along. Joan loved flowers, any type of flower and often would pamper “throw-aways” to become thriving house plants. She was also passionate for Bingo and card games, particularly when a pot was at stake. Many a card club will miss her presence and her tenacity for the game

Joan was the loving mother of three children, Deborah Maier and her husband “Whitey” of White Haven, PA; Jacqueline McCullough and her husband Martin of Guilford, CT; and James Saxon & his wife, Lynda of Peters Township, PA. She leaves three grandchildren Bert Maier (Becce); Megan Toth, (Matthew) and Abigail Scott (Adam) and eight great-grand children, Riley, Harrison and Harlow Scott; Owen, Noah and Kellan Toth; Cole and Quinn Maier.
