Marjorie “Tess” (Kress) Lawrence

Marjorie “Tess” (Kress) Lawrence, with heavy heart we announce the passing of our beloved mother on December 20, 2019 shortly after celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends.

She was born in Beatrice, Nebraska and moved to Mt. Washington in Pittsburgh, PA with her husband, the late Bob Lawrence that she met while in the Navy.
She served her country and entered the Navy during World War II, where she served as an aerial gunnery instructor. She raised her family in Mt. Washington, and while doing that she participated in many volunteer activities, donated 25+ years to The Carnegie Library and Goodwill Industries. She was passionate about reading, arts, and travel and could be happy anywhere she was.
She loved and cherished her family and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents Herbert and Grace Kress, husband, Bob Lawrence and her sister, Eleanor Bryant.
She is survived by her children, Catherine Lawrence Minter, Gregory Lawrence, Annie Lawrence and Matthew (Marilyn) Lawrence; 4 grandchildren, Tina, Christopher, Michael, and Tess; and 2 great grandchildren, Camren and Addison.

As per her request, all funeral services will be private.
She donated her brain for Alzheimer’s Research. Should family and friends desire memorial tributes, please send to your the Alzheimer Organization of your choice.

One of the most loving and intelligent women I have had the the pleasure of meeting. Jim & I were amazed over the years of Tesse's love of reading whatever she could get her hands on. Tess and her family will always hold a special part of our hearts.
