John G. Burns

John G. Burns, age 88 of Waynesburg, PA died Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was born in Rich Hill, PA on September 8, 1932, and is the son of the late Morris and Irene (Wiley) Burns. John proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and is a member of the Wind Ridge American Legion, Post 0416 and VFW Post 267. He is a graduate of Penn Commercial College and worked for Columbia Gas for over 25 years until his retirement. He is survived by his children Steve (Amber) Burns and Sue (Dan) Hamm; grandchildren, Alivia, Zoe, Stephen Walker Burns and Ryan, Justin and Shannon Hamm; sister, Sara Sue (George) Mazzei; also, several nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his brothers Jim, Jack and Frank Burns. John loved fishing and hunting and was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He also enjoyed dog racing and spending time with his grandchildren. Military Honors will be celebrated on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 4:30 pm at Veterans Memorial 918 Rolling Meadows Rd., Waynesburg, PA 15370.  Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Family Hospice, 310 Fisk St., Pittsburgh, PA 15201 or Presbyterian Senior Care, 1215 Hulton Rd., Oakmont, PA 15139. Arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, McMurray, PA.
