I’m sorry to hear of Tom’s passing. He was like another big brother to me growing up. He was always nice to me. I remember he was usually laughing and smiling. Diana Hay Rockey
Jim Heffley
My brother Tom was the fourth child of Jim and Reenie Heffley. He was preceded by his brothers Jim, Bob and his sister Mary. He was followed by his brother Pat. Tom grew up in a loving and disciplined home. There were rules to maintain order and rules to govern ones conduct in society. Preeminent among the maxims was that if you see something that needs to be done or a person who needs a helping hand – just do it. Cut the grass and shovel the snow for neighbors along with unload groceries from the car. When we were tidying up Tom’s belongings, there discovered, were quantities of thank you notes. They had the common theme of thanking Tom for his consideration and kindness. He brought our family values forward into adult life. Those ideals of service to others defined Tom. We can be confident that our mother and father were waiting at the gate with Peter. They were there to embrace their Tommy and congratulate him for a life well lived and a job well done.
