Donna Cleary Quackenbush

Donna Cleary Quackenbush, 76, passed away on November 6, 2023, less than two weeks after a sudden diagnosis with adrenal cancer. Donna grew up in Peters Township with her parents and was the oldest of four siblings: Joan, Wayne, and Joyce. After school, Donna worked in the radiology department at Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh. She spent the rest of her career working in various aspects of the medical field and was the family’s go-to person with any and all medical and health insurance questions.

Donna loved traveling with her late husband, Bob. They were fortunate enough to spend time in Africa, Brazil, and China as well as visiting as many of the islands as they possibly could. But they both fell in love with the island of St. Maarten, eventually spending up to eight weeks a year there at their timeshare.

Donna was happiest on warm, sunny days when she could be outside with a book, a drink and good friends visiting. She was lucky enough to have this at her home in McMurray with many neighbors that have become an extended family to her in the past decade.

Donna especially loved spending time with her family at their summer cabin in Ontario, Canada. She spent time there every summer after she and Bob married in 1978. After retiring, she was able to spend up to 4 months a year enjoying the lake with her Canadian friends and a cold Molson.

She will be greatly missed by all of her friends and family, but especially her son Grant, her daughter Dana, son-in-law Larry, and her three grandchildren, Dominic, Logan, and Delaney.

As per her wishes, there will not be a viewing or service scheduled. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the future, when the family is able to all be together.
