Mrs. Aspasia (Espy) (Christodoulou) Zissis, 85, of Robinson Township, passed away peacefully in her home on January 24, 2023. She spent her final days surrounded by her beloved children, family, and close friends. Born in Corinth, Greece on August 9, 1937 to Bessie and George. Espy loved to share stories about her childhood in Greece and was prideful in her Greek heritage and traditions. Espy moved to America in 1947 with her family. She met Anthony (Tony) Zissis in 1959 and they wed on July 17, 1960. Tony and Espy spent 62 loving, peaceful, and adventurous years together. Espy took great pride in her home and was an incredibly gracious host to anyone who entered the front door. She was a skilled baker, seamstress, and gardener. She and Tony spent many hours in their yard tending to the flowers and creating a beautiful space. She loved sitting with Tony on their porch admiring the garden, sharing stories, and laughing late into the evening. In the winter, they loved spending their time on the beach in Florida with her sister Fofo and her husband Bill. Espy was also actively involved at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church and volunteered for many church events. Espy’s family meant the world to her. She loved visiting with her siblings, nieces and nephews. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother, always showing up to every event and beaming with pride. Espy was well known and loved as a “spitfire” who spoke her mind and was never without a clever comment. Her spice, wit, and endless love will be dearly missed by her loved ones.

Espy is survived by her beloved husband, children Anna Zissis, Gea (Jeff) Spires, Frank (Ellen) Zissis, and Tina (Harry) Krukenberg; her brother Sam (Nota) Christodoulou; her grandchildren, Kayla (Jared) Steinmetz, Christian James, Tanner Zissis, and Hayden Zissis; and her many nieces, nephews, and godchildren. She was preceded by her parents and her sisters: Kiki (Ted) Loumanis, Fofo (Bill) Theodoros, and Tasoula Stergiou.

The Zissis family would also like to extend their gratitude to Espy’s hospice nurses, Jennifer and Kelli, as well as Tony and Espy’s neighbors. The love and support you all have shown in this journey is deeply appreciated.
