Charlotte Rice, age 89, of Peters Township, PA formerly of Cranberry Township, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2024. Born in McCLean, Virginia on March 21, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Charlotte Corner.

Charlotte was the beloved mother of Nancy (Jesse) Maupin, Susan Hyde, and July (David Groves) Patterson. Loving nana to Travis (Janelle) Kelly, Stacy Schmitz, and Donald “DJ” (Sarah) Patterson. Great nana to Gwenny and James Kelly. She is also survived by her niece, Melanie Patt-Corner.

She is preceded in death by her late husband, Dr. Samuel Rice; four older brothers, and son-in-law; Lloyd Hyde.

Charlotte was an avid traveler who also found time to engage in helping others within her community. She was actively involved in the Rotary International Exchange for students, as well as the Pittsburgh Council for International Visitors. She was the proud owner of the Cranberry Bed and Breakfast, and a librarian at the Cranberry Public Library. Those who love her could describe her as the sweetest soul who was a familiar face in the neighborhood, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation and Funeral Care.
In lieu of flowers, Charlotte would recommend donating to your local library, or checkout or buy a book.
