It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Donald J. Conti, 74, of Moon Township, on Sunday, October 3, 2021.  He passed peacefully in sleep due to advanced stages of Multiple Myeloma with his beloved wife, Doreen (Kazura) Conti, by his side as she has been for the past 57 years.  He was born in McKees Rocks, son of the late Dorni and Mary (Manno) Conti of Sheridan, PA. Donald did everything for his family and was the personification of the phrase, ‘actions speak louder than words.’  A quiet and soft-spoken man, he showed his love through his willingness to help his family and selfless acts of kindness.  As the patriarch of the family, he modeled to us that family came before all else.  He was always ready to help out whenever anyone needed, lending his knowledge, strength, and warm heart.  Donald made us all laugh and smile through his sense of humor and quick one-liner jokes which we will never forget, but forever miss.  A loving father and hero to his children, he leaves behind his daughter Nicole L. Duncan and her husband Paul, of Moon Township; and his son Dean J. Conti and his wife Joanna, of Moon Township. He was PapPap to his four grandsons, Zachary P. Duncan, Jake J. Duncan, Lorenzo D. Conti and Luca D. Conti. Brother to Dennis Conti and the late Dean Conti.  The family will honor his life privately together; however, welcome those close to Don to share condolences or fond memories at pittsburghcremation.com.

Dear Mrs. Conti, Dino, Nikki, Joanna, Paul and family: I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s never easy losing a loved one, especially a person so central to the family. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Conti on my trips to Pittsburgh to visit the family and I was always impressed by Mr. Conti’s energy and dedication to his family. I saw how everything he did he did for his loved ones. In this way, he shared his many talents with those he cared about. I loved observing the relationship Mr. Conti shared with Dino, who my heart goes out to because I know he has not only lost his father, but also a friend. Not many fathers, after all, get asked to be a groomsmen in their son’s wedding, a testament to the kind of special role he had in his son’s life. In his wake, I know he lives on in the hearts of his family and his legacy is being carried on by Dino and Nikki, who are passing on his skills, knowledge and wisdom to their children. Sending all my love, Mara

My heart breaks for all of you. For Doreen who made, shaped and cultivated an entire life with Don. For Nikki and Dino (and Joanna and Paul by extension) who learned from and were loved by Don. For his grandchildren and all of the lessons taught, as well as the lessons yet to be taught. You all didn’t have nearly long enough with him and it’s not fair. Though I had the fortune of only a few brief encounters (relatively speaking) with Don; the time I spent the with him left a lasting impression. I would like to share with you some of those memories. I remember an avid animal lover (kidding). I remember how much trouble he would get in, with Dino and Doreen, when caught using scalding hot water to wash the dishes. I remember a man gracious enough to excavate the land across from the house, just so Chris would have a place to park. I remember a man who would graciously except refugees from Connecticut during the summer time. Mostly, I remember a man who was the personification of responsibility, ownership and care. Don set a pretty high bar. His silent approach to hard work pays off was evident in how meticulous he was about everything he cared for. He was a good man, who helped raise good people. It’s said a person can be measured by the lives they’ve touched. I can truly say the world was much better with him in it. Please know your Connecticut family grieves with you. If there is anything I can do to ease some of the suffering or add value in any way, don’t hesitate to ask. My love to you all.

To the entire Conti family, please accept our deepest condolences. While I only met Mr. Conti a few times, he was always made me feel welcome. He was a remarkable man and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
