On his 74th birthday November 1, 2023, after a prolonged illness Edward U. Kestner, Jr. went home to Jesus. Ed worked as a self-taught plumber, electrician and a very talented carpenter.  He was an avid gardener and always had his hands in the soil.  He was proud of being an “old hippie” and lived the quote by Hunter S. Thompson “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intension of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming…Wow what a ride!”  He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, his parents Edward U. Sr. and Dorothy A. (Sutterlin) and sister Beverly.  He is survived by sisters Edna (Don) Zimmerman, Dorothy (late Fiore) Fischetti, Carol (late Jack) Kocher, Valerie and Karen, many nieces, nephews and very close friends. Ed was also known to greet each day with Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Memorial contributions may be made to AHN Cancer Institute. Private arrangements were entrusted to Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care, Robinson Township, PA. Please view and sign the family’s online guestbook at www.PittsburghCremation.com.
