Elizabeth (Betty) Henderson, aged 95, of McMurray, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 20, 2023. Born on August 1, 1928, in Farmington, Michigan, she was the daughter of Abe L. Johnson and Grettelle (Williams) Johnson. Her marriage to her first husband, George Robbins, produced two sons. She married Cecil Olyn Henderson in 1963.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Priscilla Taggart, her brothers Burke Johnson and Keith Johnson, her husband Olyn in 1981, and her son Stephen Robbins in 1992. She is survived by her son David Robbins and his wife Linda of Venetia, Pennsylvania; her three grandchildren, Emily Robbins (living in China), Natalie Olala and her husband Hervé (also living in China), and Elliott Robbins and his wife Tiffany of Venetia, Pennsylvania; along with six great-grandchildren, Alexis Huffman, Scarlett Robbins, Gage Huffman, Jude Robbins, Abigail Huffman, and Fiona Robbins.

Betty enjoyed extending hospitality, gardening, bicycling, and cross-country skiing, but these were not the most important aspects of her life. Betty became one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1956. She became a zealous Bible teacher, helping many to gain knowledge of the Bible, and this was the main focus of her life. After her first marriage ended, she moved to Tawas City, Michigan with her two small children, zealously preaching using a VW microbus. When she married Olyn, also a zealous Bible teacher, they moved to Cheboygan, Michigan. After Olyn’s death, she lived in Gaylord, Michigan, for many years before moving to McMurray in 2018. Even into her old age, teaching the Bible to people was the most important thing to her. Her zeal and her example have been an inspiration to many.

Hebrews 6: 10 reads “For God is not unrighteous so as to forget your work and the love you showed for his name by ministering and continuing to minister to the holy ones.” She is resting, at peace, awaiting a resurrection back to life. Job poetically stated at Job 14: 14 “If a man dies, can he live again? I will wait all the days of my compulsory service Until my relief comes. 15 You will call, and I will answer you. You will long for the work of your hands.” May that call come soon.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday December 16, at 3:00 pm EST, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 283 McCoy Rd, Gaylord MI  49735. This will be a hybrid meeting, in person or on Zoom. The Zoom ID will be 868 6654 6052 and the passcode will be 548401.
