George “Pap” William Tayman Jr., also known as Bill, age 80, of Moon Township, passed away on January 5, 2024.

Beloved husband of 61 years to Catherine Tayman.

Born on July 9, 1943 in Pittsburgh, PA, he is son of the late Dorothy and George Tayman Sr.

Bill is survived by his four children: daughter Lisa Tayman and her boyfriend Kevin Kissel, son Michael Tayman and his girlfriend Jane Milburn, son Mark Tayman and his wife Joanne, and his daughter Lori Bertella and her boyfriend Jeff Kleinendorst; brother of Kay (Joseph) Griggle, and Janet Meyer; grandfather of Nicole (Gabor) Kunstar, Heather (Mitch) Hines, Jennifer (Phil Cook) Macasek, Jakob Tayman, Mason Tayman, Daniel Tayman, and Mitch Bertella; great-grandfather of Zachary and Aria Kunstar. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law James Meyer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Bill was a fairly private guy. He spent most of his time invested into different gameshows or football games. He was a sports fanatic always rooting for his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers… as long as they were winning. He had a great memory when it came down to different sports statistics. Bill also had a crazy sweet tooth, and a special bond with his cats. However, nothing compared to the love Bill had for his high school sweetheart, Cathy, and the beautiful family they created together. Everyone who knew Bill, knew how proud he was of his family.

His one-of-a-kind sense of humor and immense love will be missed dearly by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 11 AM at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, located at 1304 4th Avenue, Coraopolis, PA 15108.  A celebration of life will follow at the church.

Cathy and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. He will be missed. I am forever grateful that Mitch was fortunate enough to have had such an amazing, loving PAP. He did so much for our family. I will always remember his passion, hilarious one-liners, laugh till you cry sayings, vacations, outings, and holidays together, and just sitting there building a puzzle together and sharing a few beers! RIP Pap. Much love always
