Grant Edward Schaefer, age 27 of McMurray, PA, passed away unexpectedly from a drug overdose in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 13, 2017. Grant was a kind, caring, witty and fun loving child and young adult. He deeply loved his family and friends, and he did so unconditionally. He was a bona fide car enthusiast, avid punk rocker, and a loyal fan of his two favorite ice hockey teams, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Peters Township Indians. He was a 2008 graduate of Peters Township High School and attended the California University of Pennsylvania. For those who knew Grant well, they knew he lived life at one speed and with few regrets.

He was born on November 19, 1989 in Stamford, CT, although he was a Pittsburgh boy always. He is the son of Alan and Donna Schaefer; brother of Drew Schaefer; nephew to John Harton and Cheryl Schaefer Harton of Phoenix, AZ; nephew to Keith Schaefer of Palm Springs, CA, and Larry Lucchesi of Newport Beach, CA; nephew to Anthony Santangelo of Manchester, NJ; cousin of Eric and Chandler Harton. He is also the loving grandson of Lee Santangelo of Manchester, NJ. The family will have a private service locally in the near future. This is so Sad !!! Grant played ice hockey at Peters with my son , Bryan Balzuweit. Grant was always respectiful to my son when others weren't. So sorry about the loss of this beautiful young man ! God Bless.
