Henry Felton Cassedy, 82, of Washington, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.

He was born April 15, 1941, in Pittsburgh, a son of Barney and Betty Palmer Cassedy. Henry grew up in Dormont and Upper St. Clair and was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School.

Henry was quite mechanically inclined and could repair just about anything. By the time he was 16, Henry rebuilt a Model A Ford, starting his lifelong love of rebuilding cars from the ground up. He especially loved Studebakers and enjoyed going to and participating in local car shows. He also enjoyed camping, boating, water skiing, roller skating and riding roller coasters with his family.

Henry loved driving long distances, all over the country and could remember every route he drove by the restaurants he would dine in along the way.
From his teenage years to his early 20s, Henry worked at the family business, West Liberty Glass in Pittsburgh, and at Parish Plastics in Bethel Park, where he built automotive body parts from fiberglass. At 28, he opened his own business, Fibercast Products, in South Franklin Township, where he designed, manufactured and sold fiberglass bathtubs and showers by hand from start to finish, including making his own molds. He worked many years alongside his best friend, the late Thomas Sager, making tub and shower units that were installed in thousands of homes throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Many of his tub and shower units were one-of-a-kind creations custom made to meet the demands of his customers. He even made a zebra-striped tub for one client. In later years, he expanded the business to make fiberglass truck parts until he retired around 2000.

Henry also remodeled houses in Washington and Pittsburgh and turned them into apartments, doing most of the work himself.

After retirement, Henry enjoyed going to truck and tractor pulls with his friends. He was known as a gentle and generous man who never knew a stranger.
On Feb. 9, 1963, in McMurray, he married Shirley Lindner Cassedy, who survives. Also surviving are three children, Kelly (David) Sheppard and Kristy Cassedy, both of Washington, and Henry (Justine) Cassedy Jr. of Sacramento, CA.; five grandchildren, Morgan MacBeth, Alexander MacBeth, Riggs Cassedy, Mackenzie Sheppard and Jordan Sheppard; a sister, Irene (Doody) Douglas of Upper St. Clair; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased are two brothers, Bernie Cassedy and James Cassedy.

Please join us at the Lone Pine Country Club anytime between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday, February 3, 2024 for a celebration of Henry’s life.
