Jennifer M. Leitkam, age 39, of Pittsburgh passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, October 24, 2021.

Born on February 19, 1982, she was the beloved daughter of Bobbie Leitkam and Steve Leitkam; dear sister of Nick Leitkam; loving mother of Addison Deems-Leitkam and Carson Leitkam-Palcic; adored partner of Shannon Deems; also survived aunts, uncles and cousins.

I think she would want me to tell you that she was smart. I think she would want you to know that she cared deeply about the world, women’s rights, the environment and education. I think she would want me to tell you that she wanted to be a nurse and that she had to work incredibly hard at school because of ADHD. I think she would want you to know that she was one of the best people and such a good kind friend. I think she would want you to know that she loved big and loved hard. She would want you to know that her values defined how she lived her life.  She would want you to know that she really wanted to go to Vegas and go whale watching in Seattle. She would want you to know that she wanted a romantic BOHO wedding dress with wildflowers for the bouquet. I think she would want you to know that she was a good daughter and an incredible sister. She spent much of her young life caring for her brother.   Jen hoped and prayed that she could see Addison through high school. She was so worried about the children losing their Mom. The idea of breaking their hearts was intolerable to her. She loved decorating for the holidays. She loved coffee and being in the world. Jen would want you to know that she had a true gift for intimacy. She never hid from her feelings. You knew the person in front of you was the real deal. She was not secretive. And, I swear to God, she was hilarious. Oh, and I think she would want people to remember her as spiritually and physically beautiful, because she was

An incredible daughter to Bobbie and was loved by all of Bobbie’s coworkers as our daughter as well . Such a great Mom and sister to Nick. Her smile lit up the world, her beautiful eyes shined so bright and her ferocious warrior spirit will always be remembered. You have earned your wings my dear and God will definitely speak the words “Job well done my child!” May you Rest In Peace and know that your life mattered and that you touched others lives in a great way and that you were so loved!

My sister truly was an angel on Earth. She was one of the sweetest, selfless, love-filled people I have ever known, and I was blessed to be her little brother and have 39 years with her.

I meant to say 26 years with her, I’ve been getting so little sleep I can’t even do basic math right now. The world is going to be a dimmer place without my sister in it

Nicholas, I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved sibling and it sounds like she had a great impact on your upbringing. Jen sounds like an angel in disguise, and I know how much you will miss her. My big brother died in 1968 and I still can't talk about him without tears. Would you mind if I asked if Jen attended Char-Val? I saw your name on the CV listing but not Jen's. I have a facebook page for students of CV who have passed away. I want them all to be remembered. Again, you have my sympathy, Jen died too young. Life can be, and is, very unfair.

In response to your question Mary, Jen dod not go to CV, just me for middle school and high school. She actually went to school and graduated in Peters Township. And yes, she did pass away far too young, but she left those children behind to carry on her spirit, so I’m thankful for that at least

Thanks for your reply, Nicholas. One can really tell how much you love your sister from your words. Her children will be needing you and I know you will be there for them. And so did Jen.

Just found out about this through a friend. My sincerest condolences to her family. I knew Jen from many moons ago when Addison was a baby and wasn't aware of the struggles in the last few years. Of the times that I had spent with her I could see how incredibly sweet and sensitive she was and easy to talk to. Seeing her picture now I'm remembering her laugh and how beautiful her smile was. She had an uplifting presence about her. This is what I remember the most.

Jennifer was a beautiful, and loved by all who knew her. She had an unconditional love for her family, and for everything around her. We'll never forget her! She'll be in our hearts forever. Rest in peace.
